Detroit, MI

The greater Detroit metropolitan region is the 13th largest in the United States, with more than 4.2 million people. The Motor City and its surrounding area have received a lot of national press lately: some good, some bad. But if the area were able to increase its college attainment rate from 26.4 to 27.4 percent -- thereby giving its economy a $3.4 billion boost -- it would be a remarkable story that no one could ignore.

Many local organizations are working together to make this goal a reality, including the Detroit Regional Chamber, Michigan College Access Network, the Skillman Foundation, University of Michigan-Dearborn, the Wayne State Detroit Revitalization Fellows Program, Michigan Future, Inc., Global Detroit, Media Genesis, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
